Fr. Andrew Hanna was born in London, England in 1978; his family moved to the United States in 1984.
He studied Mechanical/Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at UCLA and Caltech, and was the Engineering Operations Chief for Space Simulation Testing and an Engineering Program Manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory prior to his ordination to the priesthood.
With his wife Amira, they have two children: Aaron Athanasius (born in 2011) and Abigail Mary (born in 2014).
He served as Sunday School Servant at Holy Virgin Mary Church in Los Angeles, and later led the Sunday School Program and Youth Services there under the spiritual guidance and tutelage of the late Fr. Antonious Henein of blessed memory. During his college studies, he also led the Coptic Orthodox Christian Club at UCLA. He then served under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Serapion, serving the Diocese of Los Angeles’ Graduates and Young Professionals. He was a regular guest speaker at youth meetings and Collegiate Coptic Clubs throughout the Diocese for over 10 years prior to his ordination to the priesthood.
On October 5, 2014, their Graces Bishop Serapion and Bishop Thomas of El-Qusiya ordained him as presbyter to serve St. Mary and St. Verena Church in Anaheim.
In August 2024, Father Andrew began to serve at St. Verena And The Three Holy Youth in Orange, California.
