Saint John the Baptist Coptic Orthodox Church was established in 2002 to serve the coastal area of Ventura County. Church services are held in a large hall with Sunday School classes being held in a large space rented from a nursing home.
Several priests have served this parish, including Hegumen Father Angelos Youssef, Father Ishak Azmy Boules, Father Markos Hanna, Father Antony Atallah, and Father Boules Asaad until the ordination of Father Youssef Zaki in October 2007.
On September 12, 2014, His Grace Bishop Serapion will break ground on the new church building project.
