On Tuesday July 4, 2023, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II Coptic Orthodox Patriarch and the President of St. Didymos Hymns Institute accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion, the Bishop of Los Angeles and Metropolitan of Southern California and Hawaii and the President of the St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School, and His Grace Bishop Kyrillos, the General Bishop at the Diocese of Los Angeles, Southern California, and Hawaii and the Dean of St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between St. Didymos Hymns Institute for Cantors and St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Theological School (ACTS).
This is a milestone in our Diocese. In addition, this is the first MOU to be signed from St. Didymos Hymns institute with a Coptic Orthodox Theological School out of Egypt and to have two of our graduates to be the first international students to study at St. Didymos Hymns institute to become Cantors.
All or part of this blessed event was His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel the Metropolitan of Maady and the General Secretary of the Holy Synod His Grace Bishop Mikhail the General Bishop of Hadaeq Al Qubbah and the Dean of Catechetical School in St. Rewies Cathedral in Abbassia, Egypt and Father Fam el Anba Bishoy the Dean of the St. Didymos Institute for Cantors in Cairo.
