The Coptic Orthodox Church in Switzerland participated yesterday in the official celebration of the Feast of St. Maurice, the patron saint of Switzerland, in the city named after him in the Valais canton.
Represented the church were His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion, the Bishop of Los Angeles and Metropolitan of Southern California and Hawaii; His Grace Bishop Luke, The Bishop of The French Districts of Switzerland & South France, His Grace Bishop Abraham, and His Grace Bishop Kyrillos, the Auxiliary Bishops in the Diocese of Los Angeles, Southern California, And Hawaii, along with a delegation of Coptic Orthodox Church members, including a study group from St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School (ACTS) in the Diocese of Los Angeles, Southern California, And Hawaii.
Also attending, were delegations from various churches, in addition to the official representation of the Swiss Confederation.
Following the official celebration held at St. Maurice Cathedral, the official and church delegations participated in a procession behind the relics of St. Maurice and his companions from the Theban Legion.
The Coptic Orthodox Church commemorates the martyrdom of St. Maurice and the Theban Legion on 25th day of the blessed Coptic month Tout according to the Coptic calendar.

مشاركة الكنيسة القبطية في احتفالات سويسرا بعيد القديس موريس
شاركت الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية بسويسرا، أمس، في احتفالات سويسرا الرسمية بعيد شفيعها القديس موريس، وذلك في المدينة التي تحمل اسمه بكانتون فاليه.
مثّل الكنيسة في هذه المناسبة أصحاب النيافة الأنبا سيرابيون، مطران لوس أنچلوس وجنوب كاليفورنيا وهاواي، والأنبا لوقا، أسقف سويسرا الناطقة بالفرنسية وجنوب فرنسا، والأنبا أبراهام والأنبا كيرلس، الأسقفان العامان بإيبارشية لوس أنچلوس، إلى جانب وفد من شعب الكنيسة القبطية من بينهم رحلة دراسية من إيبارشية لوس أنچلوس.
شارك في الاحتفال أيضًا وفود من كنائس عدة، بالإضافة إلى التمثيل الرسمي للكونفدرالية السويسرية.
وعقب الاحتفال الرسمي الذي أقيم داخل كاتدرائية القديس موريس، خرجت الوفود الرسمية والكنسية في مسيرة خلف الصناديق التي تحمل رفات القديس موريس ورفاقه من أعضاء الكتيبة الطيبية (نسبة إلى مدينة طيبة – الأقصر حاليًا)، حيث طافت في دورة داخل المدينة، بمصاحبة الفرق الموسيقية وفرق الكشافة الكنسية.
يذكر أن الكنيسة القبطية تعيد بعيد استشهاد القديس موريس والكتيبة الطيبية، يوم ٢٥ توت بحسب التقويم القبطي.
هذا ومن المقرر أن تصلي الكنيسة القبطية في سويسرا، القداس الإلهي بدير القديس موريس في ذلك اليوم بحسب عادتها كل عام.
