On Thursday, June 16th, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III ordained the blessed servant Bishoy Mamdouh Selim as a priest for the Diocese of Los Angeles. The new priest received the name of Fr. Antony. The blessed ordination took place at the church of the Papal Residence in Cairo. The bishops who participated in the blessed ordination were His Grace Bishop Serapion, His Grace Bishop Beeman of Nagada and Quos; His Grace Bishop Youaness, General Bishop and Secretary of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III; His Grace Bishop Sarabamon of Adbara, Omdurman, and North Sudan; and His Grace Bishop Ermia, General Bishop and Secretary of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III.
After staying for forty days at the Monastery of Anba Pishoy, the new priest will return to Los Angeles to serve St. Maurice and St. Verena Church of the Coptic Village in Big Bear.
Fr. Antony Selim was born on August 27, 1977 in Egypt, graduated from Faculty of Commerce (the Department of Foreign Trade) and studied at the Theological Seminary in Cairo. He served as a youth and Sunday school servant at St. George Church-Heliopolis. He is married to Eariny K. Sydhom and they have one child Mike, who is 3 years old.
