New Parish to Serve Newport Beach and Costa Mesa Area

As the number of our Coptic Orthodox Church members Southern California has vastly increased, there is an increasing need for more space in various regions to continue the ministry of the Diocese of Los Angeles under the Auspices and leadership of His Grace Bishop Serapion.

It is with God’s blessings and His Grace’s wisdom to establish a new parish in the Orange County area. The church is proposed to be in the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area of OC. As the ministry in the region of Los Angeles has grown considerably, a new church in that area would serve members of the church in that geographical region.

His Grace Bishop Serapion along with founding members have agreed on the name of St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine. His Grace has appointed Temporary and interim priest, Fr. Boules Baky, to oversee the foundation and establishment of the parish, and there will be rotation of different priests on the service till HG Bishop Serapion will Appoint a Permanent priest to serve this new church.

May God of Heaven, the Lord of the Church, with His Holy Spirit and the work of His Grace, and all the clergy continue the ministry and facilitate its growth and strength, in love and unity, within the diocese and throughout the world.
