On Saturday, August 28, many children from almost every parish in the Diocese participated in the Mahragan Al Keraza Spiritual Competition for children in grades 1-5. The competition took place at St. Mary and St. Athanasius Church in Northridge, California under the auspices of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III and our beloved father, His Grace Bishop Serapion. Attending the event with His Grace were several priests, clergy, and servants from the various parishes of the Diocese.
The Mahragan Al Keraza is an international competition originating from the Coptic Orthodox Bishopric of Youth under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Moussa. Every year, Coptic Orthodox children and adults throughout Egypt and the rest of the world participate in this competition.
With God’s grace, this year’s competition was highly successful. Many children spent weeks with their servants at their parishes learning the material, having fellowship with one another, and growing in their faith. For this reason, all who participated are winners. Reflecting this fact, each child received a beautiful certificate from His Grace to cherish and keep for many years.
The competition had other overall winners, as well. For a complete listing of the winning teams, please download this PDF.
