His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion, the Metropolitan of Los Angeles, Southern California, Hawaii, and Abbot of the Great Saint Antony Monastery California, and Their Graces Bishop Suriel, Bishop Abraham and Bishop Kyrillos, and the Monks of the Monastery and all the clergy of the Diocese of Los Angeles bid farewell in the hope of the Resurrection to Reverend Father Antonious Saint Antony who fell asleep in the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
He was well known for his monastic virtues of calmness, meekness, and honesty in his monastic struggle. He carried the cross of illness with joy and thanksgiving and was an example of perseverance and endurance.
The late father was born on August 27, 1967, entered the monastery in December 1992, and was tonsured a monk on December 2, 1996. He was then ordained a priest on January 29, 2000 and elevated to hegumen on May 8, 2016.
We ask God to repose his pure soul and grant consolation to the fathers and novices at the monastery and for his family.
