Axios! Ordination of Two Deacons for the Diocese

On Thursday, February 7, 2013, His Grace Bishop Serapion, accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Hedra, ordained two deacons for the Diocese at St. Verena and the Three Holy Youth Church in Orange, CA during the monthly clergy meeting.

The newly ordained deacons take up their service at the Holy Altar.

The two deacons, Raouf Moussa and Nader Moussa Yuwakim, were given the names Deacon Thomas and Deacon Antonious, respectively, and will continue their service at St. John Church in Covina, CA.

The Deacon is the third degree of the major orders of clergy in the Orthodox Church, following the bishop and the presbyter. The word deacon (Gr. διάκονος) means “one who serves.”

We congratulate His Grace and the people of the diocese for this joyful event and pray that God may continue to bless the service in this Christ-loving diocese.
