Departure of the Reverend Hegumen Father Antonious Younan Soliman

With a strong faith and hope in the Resurrection, we announce the departure of the beloved Reverend Hegumen Father Antonious Younan Soliman, the priest of St. Mary and St. Athanasius Church in Northridge on Monday, June 20, at the age of 85. Father Antonious had lived a full and blessed life of service, being a priest for 56 years.

He was ordained Presbyter by Metropolitan Timothaos on November 21, 1954 for a Church in Mansoura, Egypt and was elevated to the Priestly rank of Hegumen in 1955, also at Mansoura. He was sent to the United States and served St. George Church in Jersey City, New Jersey from 1974-1976. He returned to his original Parish Church in Egypt in 1976.

He came back to the United States to serve at Holy Virgin Mary church in Los Angeles from 1988-1992 and St. Mary and St. Athanasius Church in Northridge from 1992 to 2011.

The Funeral Service will be held, God willing, on Saturday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Athanasius Church.

May the Lord accept his pure soul and comfort his family. May he pray for us before the Lord.

Update: Our apologies, we mistakenly wrote that the late Fr. Antonious departed on Saturday, June 18. Actually, he departed into eternal rest on Monday, June 20. Please forgive us.
